At the top of the climb b4 a very satisfactory downhill

This is Tony's version of simulation

Ulu Yam Bharu -no sweat for Tony

My cockpit

Like father and son

This is for Rivern

Did I mention no sweat for Tony? Now he wanted 2 small bags from me to be transfered over

Still far far ahead of me, can't see him

Either he is too fast or i am too slow

He waited for me to catch up,learning fast

Now i am in front

The last steep climb to the top

Our pride - with a burnt car by the road side

Yes...Thats the way...Aha...Aha...I like it....Aha..Aha

Nice cooling dip at the top

Simulation a success both to the rider

And the Grasshopper

Batu Dam - nice spot for fishing too

Taiwan Revisit 1st -31st Oct Cycle Touring and Down the Memory Lane

For those who had been following my cycling tours, this will be my 2nd cycle touring in Taiwan, almost a year since my 1st . Yes, I will be blogging my coming tour at the same site to continue the stories where i left off. My 1st tour started from Taoyuan airport, stayed with warmshower for 3 days, started riding southwest to Baoshan to stay another 2 days whom i met in Laos. Then went east into the central mountain on route 7,down south to Mt Hehuangshan and Wuling ,the highest motorable road in Taiwan at 3275m .Enjoy a splendid downhill to yet another tourist attraction Sun Moon Lake to camp for a night.Continued south climbing up to a misty Tataka ,the entrance to the highest Mt Yushan in Taiwan at 3952m. I did not trek up instead i put up my tent at the public carpark overlooking to the beautiful Alishan mountain range. Hopefully i can set foot there this time. Then i had the rare opportunity to meet up my relative in Liugui.I only have his house address and phone but never met before that. He was a Guomindang soldier escaped into Taiwan after the Chinese communist took over, stll very healthy at 90.He appreciated with my way of coming to visit him with a bicycle and i ended up staying few more days and had my bicycle box up, and another few days with his son in Kaohsiung. With that basically ended my 1st tour in Taiwan. So what have i missed , i hope to do it this time, yes, i will have a ride partner this time - Tony riding his bland new HP Grasshopper. Our itinerary is pretty flexible, with a rough idea of how we going to spending a month in Taiwan. From Taoyuan airport ,take the 1hr bus to Taipei and stay with Warmshower Rod Lin n then start to go north to Yangminshan,Yeliu geopark,Keelung,Jiufen,Toucheng,Jiaoxi,Yilan,Suao on the east coast, all the way to Hualian. Up the Taroko Gorge into the central Mt . Revisit the Mt Hehuangshan ,Wuling ,Sun Moon Lake, and Alishan, cross the South cross-island Highway to Taidong on the East coast and back to Taipei, may have to take train or bus if time is running short. You can follow our trail on the Taiwan google map ,just follow the Yellow marker pin.
