Day 20 - 23 ( 01-04 Nov) Box -up my recumbent in Liouquei

I had decided to end my biking trip in Liouquei as I wish to stay longer here to be with my never met relative's Keng Fong , listened to the stories of many years back when he was a soldier and how he was ended up here, the life was very tough for him then , he also relate how my father has helped him up financially. It was interesting and i felt happy for him as every hardship was over . He now retired with a hardworking Hakka wife , a son in seafood import export business, a daughtner-in law and 3 grandchildren. . Liouquei, is a rural town in southern Taiwan of Kaohsiung County, located just at the bank of Laonong River. During the recent 88 typhoon , the bridge that links both sides of the township was totally washed off by the debris flow, a temporary bridge of cyclindrical pipes were laid until the new bridge is scheduled to be completed in 2 years time.Luckily the town center was not affected, thanks to earlier govermnet's effort of building a strong concrete wall. My relative brought me along to the Liouquei primary school for his daily morning walk, and I was quite surprised to see a grand building with good facilities eventhough it is just a primary school .What a shame ! if you were to compare that to Malaysia.

A section of the shop houses in Liouquei.

Near misses for the town but the bridge is gone

                                                                Liouquei primary school

The fallen bridge that connects the opposite end

                                                                  What a sorry sight!!!
